NZ Day 9

Well that was the worst nights sleep I’ve had! Staying at heritage park motel In Haast the bed was so uncomfortable. It’s raining here and you can’t even see a mountain , there is nothing here except a bar and small shop. So we made the decision to ditch out of tonight’s stay and find somewhere else to stay. We managed to get a slight refund as we had booked for two nights.

So off we went in the next leg up the west coast to fox glacier and franz Joseph approx 2 hours drive through the windy hills, We stopped at Bruce bay and watched the big waves crashing on the shore, this was so soothing and the smell of the sea air was Devine just what I needed to recharge. Thomas signed a rock to add to the pile! The sand flies were horrendous within seconds rob and joes legs were covered with bites. We continued through mountain ranges with waterfalls and lots of little bridges to cross . The rain mist hanging heavy over the hills. We stoped at fox glacier for lunch, then moved in to our new house, a huge barn building with a snooker table ! This was more like it. The bed is comfortable and we have amazing views all abound us. We are here for 1 night only. We went to the hot spa slightly disappointing as wet brought it was volcanic pools but it was man made in the middle of the rain forest, the setting was lovely, 3 pools ranging from 36-38-40 degrees it was really hot. We chilled out for an hour. Then back to the house for supper. It’s rained most of the day but it’s still hot and muggy and the mosquitoes are still after us to feast on.
